Clasp Converters - Why you should try one.

Writer: Alan ReidAlan Reid

Have you ever heard of a clasp converter? Let's take a moment to delve into what makes them unique and why you should try one from Freedom Clasp.

A clasp converter is a magnetic jewelry clasp which includes an O-ring on one side of it and a traditional lobster claw or spring ring style clasp on the other. It's true that we at Freedom Clasp did not invent the clasp converter, but we believe that we have perfected it.

A clasp converter is very handy for a couple of reasons. First off, it "converts" any piece of jewelry which has a lobster claw or a spring ring into a magnetic closure. Another benefit of a clasp converter is that it can be swapped between different pieces of jewelry. You can also use a single converter to stack multiple chains together for the popular layered look.

The typical issue with clasp converters doesn't really have anything to do with the fact that it's a converter, but rather lies with the magnetic clasp. As almost anyone who has tried using a magnetic jewelry clasp knows, they make wearing jewelry extremely easy, but they do not have enough holding strength to keep them from inadvertently popping open. This is an issue and a major concern amongst jewelry wearers because no one wants to run the risk of losing their jewelry.

That's where a clasp converter from Freedom Clasp is different. All of our clasps include a magnet, so essentially they are a magnetic clasp - but, unlike all other magnetic clasps, the Freedom Clasp is crafted with an inter-locking design which keeps it securely engaged while being worn. We have tested the holding strength of our clasps with up to 30 lbs - which in turn snapped the chain we were using to conduct our experiment; but the clasp itself stayed securely engaged.

HOW DO YOU USE IT?

It's really simple! You simply attach the existing clasp from your piece of jewelry onto the O-ring on one side of the clasp converter and then attach the lobster claw from the converter onto the other end of your jewelry. You've now "converted" your jewelry into an easy-to-use, secure magnetic closure. To release the Freedom Clasp, simple use two hands to twist the two clasp halves apart in opposite directions. To re-attach, simply line up the two clasp halves and the magnet will guide it together for you. To release the clasp while used with a bracelet, simply apply tension to the bracelet by pulling it gently away from your wrist, insert your fingernail into the groove on either side of the clasp, where the two clasp halves join together and apply pressure to separate the two halves.

Freedom Clasp offers clasp converters in multiple sizes with three color variations.
